Quinella and other horse betting questions?

Lets say I bet a 5 dollar quinella on horse 1 & 2.. Would that cost me 10 dollars to bet or 5? Also what if I placed a bet of 5 dollars on number 1 to show.. would I have to pay 5 bucks or 15?

Im so confused!

A quinella is a bet on two horses to finish in the top two positions. So a 1-2 Quinella will cost you $5 and will pay if the horses finish 1-2 or 2-1.

So $5 for the quinella, and $5 more for the show bet. $10.

You only need to bet $5. Basically it is a parlay that puts $5 on the horse to Win and then takes all of that winnings and puts it on the 2nd horse to place. You can box the numbers meaning the horses can come in either order but a box bet only means that you want every possible combination for $5 a piece so then you would need $10 because there are 2 combinations. If you wanted to box 3 horses for a quinella (also called perfecta or exacta) then that is 6 combinations so you would need $30. You see now. I hope my added information doesn’t confuse you more.

    Example of a win:
If you picked a horse with 10:1 to win and a Show with 7:1 odds then you would win $350 with a $5 bet because you multiply 10 times 7 and then times your bet.
If you bet $5 and said box the numbers then you gotta split your money by 2 because you bet on more combinations so $5 box would then pay $175, but now the two horses can come in either order because you purchased both combinations.

hey, these guys are so wrong if you want to know about the NSW TAB system. If you put a $5 quinella on, It will cost you $5. Simple as that. That is if you pick 2 horses only, If you pick3 horses for the quinella, it would mean there are 3 combinations, which mean that if you mark $5 on the ticket and pick 3 horses, it would cost you $15.
